How to Select the Right EMR
Selecting the right EMR is extremely important to ensure that you get the desired outcome after successful EMR implementation. Following steps could help you choosing the right EMR software for your medical practice:
Select the Best EMR Vendor and the Right EMR Software
Make sure to choose an EMR vendor with proven record and enough experience with clients over the years. Choosing a vendor that is new in healthcare industry could cause problems. You also got to see whether or not your EMR vendor provides EMR training and support after sales. When it comes to medical software training, it is important to choose a right sized EMR solution which is well accepted by your employees. Not to mention the intuitive user interface and incorporates inputs from the clinicians during the software design process that a software must feature.
Choose a One Stop EMR Resource
When considering an EMR vendor for your organization, do note whether or not the vendor has. You must select a vendor that can grow with you. You will be better served by choosing a vendor who is able to supply a complete product and service package. Having one stop solution to fulfill all your needs simplifies your tasks and makes it easy for you to get in touch with the vendor using a single number. The vendor should act as a one stop approach for you so that in case you face any problems related to application interfaces, you should be able to contact the vendor immediately.
Choose a Flexible Software and Flexible Vendor
You should try to seek a flexible vendor and procure flexible software that can be customized to fit your needs. You should make sure that your vendor offers effective EMR implementation services as attaining this service from a third party can not only be difficult but can also prove costly. A phased implementation approach should be adapted so that you get ensured workflow improvements to achieve greater flexibility to your systems and processes. The features offered by the software should ultimately be enhancing your workflow with interrupting operation of your practice.
Choose an Adaptable Technology
Choose to buy EMR software which has a flexible architecture which should be adaptable to the constantly changing needs of your healthcare setting.
Always Choose a CCHIT Certified EMR
CCHIT certification is important because it ensures that the tested software meets industry standards for functionality, security and compatibility with the other clinical systems.
Validate the Third Party
Most of the vendors make promises with respect to the quality of the software that they offer. However, you should validate the track record of the software being offered by a vendor using the KLAS rating system. KLAS is an independent rating system which monitors the performance of EMR system independently based on the feedback from thousands of healthcare organizations.
